Color Me Uninterested

Ah color

The universal language of individuality

Possibly the most anti-pluralistic word in the English language ends in -duality

before you accuse me of pseudo etymology…

I accuse myself! Ha!

I love color

Sometimes when I get dressed I forget that people who I see during the day can also see me

As sad as this sounds, that’s a shocking realization that I experience often

weekly

and at times

daily.

And then I think, “wow, I’m obnoxious”

because I’ve just realized that people are evaluating me based on my clothing choices

And they should

Because I present myself like the fool that I am

So there’s a bit of an internal conflict there between wanting to look vibrant and wanting to look civilized or even socialized

Although it does seem that pop culture has thrown out good taste in lieu of

“Whatever Taste Feels Right!”

so

I should be good

But this does seem like an issue

I’ll call it

the Whatever Taste Issue

WTI

If you’re getting this confused with the oil company (West Texas Intermediate), I do have alternative names

for example

RNP!

Rainbow Nincompoop Problem

If that feels a bit on the nose and you have an affinity for oxymorons and nipples,

PAP!

Popularized Anti-Popularism

That appears to be more than sufficient.

But here’s more

ALENA!

“Art’s Literally Everything Now” Approach

MDYRS

My Dignity’s Your Responsibility Sir

You can pronounce that one “murders”

PEI

Privilege Elimination Initiative

What?!

no wei.

I’m concerned

and hungry actually.

And my personal favorite:

ME!

a demoralizing pop song which attempts to celebrate individuality but unintentionally undermines it with cliche uses of exorbitant color bursts and flamboyant stereotypes.

*gasps*

*catches breath*

I know

That’s a lot of words for two letters

Although to be honest the exclamation point has more to do with the actual import of the song than either of the letters

so

Touche, Tay Tay

Look

Respect the colors, man

Personal and artistic expression is some hallowed ground here

It’s a couple steps away from divine revelation so don’t cheapen it with politics and postmodern egalitarian BS

At the very least, admit me this

Just because anyone can be an artist, doesn’t mean we have to think they’re a good one

Alena is right

Barring propaganda, art is an incredibly broad category

Even one’s occupation is an art

Let alone this obnoxiously reality defying personal expression

ugh

Just do your thing

whatever

But don’t make me call it good

Most things aren’t, and the probability that you’ve uncovered something amazing in yourself is, well

Very Very Low.

heh heh

VVL

It’s my abbreviation for

I DONT CARE GET OUT OF MY FACE AND LET ME HAVE MY STANDARDS

No promises, but I’ll try not to be a snob.
